Separation anxiety

Angst ❯ Vor dem Alleinsein

My 7y old dog, adopted from shelter (where she had spent her all life) 4 yrs ago, has severe separation anxiety when she feels she will be ledt alone in the appartment. And this was only a few times and not longer than 120 min. She is shaking before we leave, she howls and barks (when normally she makes no sounds at all), and last time in only 45 minutes alone she damaged her paws by scratching the door.
Tried leavinf her a piece of out clothing? With or without food, music playing, small or big room - nothing helps it is only getting worse.
What can you advise?
It is a mixed bred of German Pinscher/ mini Pinscher.

Hello,

the dog has been living with you for 3 years and has been showing this separation stress since then?
Especially with dogs from animal welfare organisations, it is important to train them to stay alone in small steps. This means: first practise that the dog can cope when you are in another room. And only for a few minutes. Then slowly increase the time until you can finally leave the flat.
It is also important that you establish rituals that give the dog a sense of security: Let Brown Noise run while you are away, make sure that all his basic needs (peeing, faeces, food) are met before you leave...
It is also best to get help from a dog trainer who will accompany you during training - whether on site or online.
Please get in touch if you have any questions.

Kind regards
